On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the training course on “Application of Lean Management Tools to Raise the Efficiency of Industrial and Mining Institutions” concluded. Held in Cairo in cooperation with the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO), the course was attended by participants from the Arab Republic of Egypt representing major industrial companies. The training course was moderated by Dr. Eng. Ahmed Hussein, Head of the Training Department at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. The four-day course covered a number of topics related to (production planning and control – production planning (concept, objectives, organization of the production planning and implementation function, functions of planning and production control, estimation of production volume, measuring operations through VSM, steps for measuring work and time elements, using statistics in performance measurement, planning and monitoring activities and operations) – modern methods for improving productivity and reducing costs – using modern methods in management, efficient use of production time, designing and preparing reports for evaluating and monitoring performance rates, the importance and impact of applying rational management and Six Sigma on entities, optimal control of the time elements as a controlling element in improving productivity and reducing costs, types of variation in operations and their causes, the importance of applying the Six Sigma methodology, the difference between the DMAIC methodology and the DMADV methodology – using statistical methods in supporting and making decisions – methods for measuring performance and improving productivity, methods and skills for measuring performance efficiency, using various analytical tools in supporting and making decisions, using the Minitab program in supporting and making decisions, Minitab Application, applications of – Quality Tools 7 using Minitab, types of data to be analyzed, modern trends in planning and implementing Cellular Layout to ensure the achievement of production plans, the concept of lean management, the concept of productive maintenance and the importance of its application, the inventory movement tracking cycle, studying the stages of loss in operations, the stages of establishing a Cellular Layout system, the economic return from implementing the Cellular Layout system, and its impact on the organization’s economics. The expert also provided participants with practical applications, field applications, and case studies.
