The training course on “Advanced Systems for Maintenance Planning, Spare Parts, and Scientific Methods for Monitoring and Evaluating Maintenance Work” concluded today, Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Cairo. The course was held from April 14-17, 2025, and was attended by participants from the Libyan Iron and Steel Company in Libya.

The training course was moderated by Dr. Eng. Ahmed Hussein, Head of the Training Department at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

The four-day course covered a number of topics related to (modern methods for continuous improvement of operations, “using modern methods in maintenance management, efficient use of maintenance time, designing and preparing reports to evaluate and monitor performance rates, the importance and impact of applying lean management and Six Sigma on entities, an introduction to lean management, the use of lean management tools, an introduction to Six Sigma” – the correct meaning of maintenance “knowing the correct meaning of maintenance, the set of procedures and the series of continuous operations that must be performed in order to put the machine in a state of full readiness for work, the importance of constantly maintaining the good condition of the machine and equipment and ensuring good performance and thus production quality, and reducing the occurrence of malfunctions and the economic loss they cause to the production process as a result of production stoppages and restart costs” – types of maintenance and how to choose them according to the type of equipment “how to plan maintenance based on the type of equipment, maintenance planning” – modern trends in planning and applying TPM maintenance to ensure the achievement of production plans “principles of total productive maintenance, equipment life cycle, studying the stages of loss in operations, stages of establishing a TPM system, stages and basics of applying maintenance Comprehensive, measuring the efficiency of process implementation and development proposals, the economic return from implementing a TPM system and its impact on the organization’s economy, and a model from other countries in comprehensive maintenance management.

The expert also provided participants with practical applications, field applications, and case studies.
