The Arab workshop on “Ship Communication Programs to Secure the Docking Process in Ports for Industrial Companies”, organized for the benefit of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, concluded today.
The workshop was held from 31 August to 3 September 2025 at the Regional Office headquarters in Cairo, under the supervision of Dr. Captain Amr Mohamed Mounir, Director of the Maritime and Offshore Training Center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
During the closing ceremony, participants received certificates of appreciation, while Dr. Mounir was presented with a certificate of thanks for his valuable efforts in delivering the scientific material. Appreciation was also extended to the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, the participants, and the Cairo-based Regional Office for their contributions to the success of the event.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
- An introduction to ship communication programs used to exchange data and information between ships and various entities (ports, shipping companies, maritime authorities, and monitoring centers).
- The role of these programs in facilitating maritime communication, improving safety, and coordinating docking, loading, and unloading operations for industrial companies.
- Their importance in enabling rapid emergency response, enhancing efficiency, and reducing operational costs.
