Industrial rules are based on a system of laboratories to verify the quality of various products. International requirements have agreed on the importance and necessity of accrediting these laboratories to ensure the quality of their results.
ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard recognized worldwide and has been prepared for testing and calibration laboratories to implement a quality system that aims to give confidence in laboratory work and improve their ability to issue accurate and guaranteed results.
This specification can be applied to all laboratories regardless of the number of workers or the type of tests or calibrations being performed.
This specification is also considered the basic standard for international accreditation bodies to accredit laboratories and verify their technical efficiency, which contributes to the acceptance of laboratory results between different countries.
The specification contains all the requirements of ISO 9001 that are related to the scope of testing and calibration, in addition to specifying the technical requirements to ensure the technical efficiency of laboratories in implementing testing and calibration activities.
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is the third edition of the specification and thus replaces the previous edition The second is ISO/IEC 17025:2005, which has expired with a grace period to implement the new version.
