The Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization is a specialized Arab organization with a legal personality and financial and administrative independence that operates within the framework of the League of Arab States in the fields of industry, standardization and mining. It was established as a result of merging the tasks of the Arab Mineral Resources Organization and the Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology with the Arab Industrial Development Organization. Its membership includes (21) Arab countries.

The organization seeks to support comprehensive and sustainable industrial development in Arab countries and keep pace with successive developments at the global level in the fields of industry, standardization and mining.

Due to the increase in the activities and events of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization and the expansion of its scope of work, it was necessary to establish a regional office to help reduce the burden on the organization and undertake the implementation of a number of tasks assigned to it in this framework.

Cairo was chosen as the headquarters of the organization’s regional office due to its geographical location in the Arab region and the presence of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and a number of specialized organizations in it.

The Regional Office was established in Cairo and began its activities in October 1997.

The office works to enhance the role of the organization in the region of the Arab Republic of Egypt and coordinates the implementation of the organization’s work programs assigned by the General Administration, and follows up and coordinates work with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the institutions of joint Arab action whose headquarters are in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It also represents the organization in meetings, seminars and meetings assigned by the General Administration of the organization.

The Regional Office organizes and implements a number of events including exhibitions, seminars, training courses and specialized workshops in the areas of the organization’s work on a commercial basis within the framework of the organization’s self-financing.
